i get the fact it's reliable and powerful, because you manually load shots instead of it being automatic, but the fact remains we have weapons of mass destruction, yet we still use weapons that are this old, just with modern twists. i'm not complaining, i'm just saying it's weird.

Automatic weapons are considerably less accurate and less powerful because of the amount of moving parts and places where gas can escape. Bolt Action is the simplest action there is besides break action which only holds one round.
