Try holding it how a blockhead would hold it : one arm fully outstretched, hand vertical, gripping it by the stock. It looks extremely awkward and the only way to make it look any better is to model hands onto the gun, which breaks customized hand appearances and looks really awkward with how long the "arm" would have to be

there's a very good one out there, it's on my server infact, that has iron sights that don't suck and the hands aren't handicapped. it's an old mod i forgot where to find it.
