Minecraft "stresses" your system because of the Java Virtual Machine acting as a middleman between the actual game and your hardware, and because it's using such an old version of OpenGL some modern GPUs fall back to software rendering because the hardware interfaces for what it's doing are deprecated (this is to maintain compatibility, they're looking at upgrading nowadays)

Basically poor software choice, nothing to do with the game's code

it's not java it's minecraft's poorly constructed source code

That stuff will forget up all but the best PCs.
