Ubisoft gamers: Uplay was a rootkit. Now it's fixed.
Dissolve:
It's not a rootkit guys, it’s an exploit in a browser extension.
on that note it's not even Uplay (though it's bad), it's the browser extension.
How to remove extension.
Firefox:
Tools – Add-ons – Plugins – Disable the Uplay and Uplay PC Hub plugins
Chrome:
Visit about:plugins and disable
Opera:
Settings – Preferences – Advanced – Downloads – Search “Uplay”, delete
fred da kiko:
i lol'd at the part where you can remove this stuff without removing the game.
Dissolve:
Also it's apparently fixed, just update Uplay to version 2.0.4?
Fredulus:
lol @ people overreacting
have fun uninstalling your expensive games for no reason, im gonna go play some more assassin's creed II.
edit: just started up ACII, and dissolve is indeed correct, uplay updated to 2.0.4, changelog says the browser plugin has been fixed and is now only able to open uplay. so panicked handicap OP should change the title
