well based on the rate of population growth now. and the rate of the major issues on earth that cause it, that are not decreasing.
what do you suggest?
tell your dad everyone on earth is well aware of the reasons for the growth. that is far from the solution.
we literally need some massive wars to kill everyone off (ridiculous). or forced abortions, forced eugenics, forced family control.
He says the population increase has slowed down. Today is different from 50 years ago.
The curve has stopped heading in a vertical direction and has started heading in a horizontal direction instead.
Sweden would actually decrease in population if it wasn't for all the immigration.

What we need to do is research better space tech so we can move out to distant parts of space. Also terraforming technology(sorry mars). Saddly no of this will be soon.
it will be if you believe it. I don't know about "needing" any of these things, though.
How about giving that billion(s) to the people who don't have water?
