try using the sharpen filter/tool/whatever on that hl2 skybox and see if it makes it look better.

I tried using Paint.net's Reduce Noise tool (which works really well on lots of things fyi) and no matter what settings I set it to it just makes it worse.

well i guess it's just because everything you make is so bad there is no possible way to make it better you're too cool for paint.net
