Author Topic: Should i get an alienweare laptop?  (Read 2156 times)

I'd be much more comfortable with a standard brand-name computer, given I know nothing about computers beyond the fact that they are completely magical.

what's your budget?

All I can say is, buy one if you want one.  I bought one, and I enjoy it very much.

It may be overpriced, but the overall look and feel of sitting at the desk with that purple glow and all the slide shutters and such... uhg, it's awesome.  It's also not just labeled as a "gaming" computer... it actually IS a gaming computer, despite what people will say.  Alienware has their own liquid cooling system separate from other brands, which may be good or... bad?  It hasn't even come near to wearing out yet.

what's your budget?
Not enough for an Alienware, certainly. Probably $700-800.

for a laptop or desktop?

alienware is about +$15% for all the same stuff as any custom computer from anywhere. with the same free shipping and the same warranties.

cept you now paid extra for that giant ugly loving alien logo that advertises what a tool you are. go play with the mac kids lol

for a laptop or desktop?
Laptop.
I really think I should take this to the computer megathread.

Liquid Cooled
2x 120mm fan
1x 200mm fan

Why are there fans if you have liquid cooling?  Honest question.

Why are there fans if you have liquid cooling?  Honest question.

liquid cooling came with the case, as does the fans. what with that i7 processor and 680ti video card, it needs it.

the basic case fans should be good enough if you have liquid cooling.

But removing the fans shouldn't effect the durability of the machine, seeing as the liquid cooling should be powerful enough for the equipment you listed.  All those fans are doing is adding weight to the machine.  That and sucking in dust.

not buying different ones, just adding the ones that came with the case. i might just not add them and ship them with it and he decides if he wants them in it.

Or don't ship them and sell them on Ebay for an over-priced amount to some sucker who broke his fan running Windows 98.

yay

im still undecided if i like liquid cooling. i dont care much how quiet my comp is really.

plus i buy hardware at high end so i dont even need to overclock. and thus wouldnt create much heat anyways.
it seems to me the 150 bucks saved from liquid hardware would best be put toward a better video card. they kinda cancel each other out.

plus isnt that a mid-size case? a larger one wouldnt create nearly as much heat just because of space
