Explain the past to a new player

Pretend your explaining the past of blockland to a new player.
Me: We used to have these 2 things that blockland had for 20 updates, terrain and interiors. They weren't bricks/blocks so I didn't agree with the other people who loved them, and now here it is past the v20 update. Now everything is slate, and I'm still getting used to it.
