it makes sense
while the dead ringer is up (doesn't need to be activated to do this) all dmg taken is only like what, 10% as strong(?)
so as long as the hit isn't lethal, you won't die
it's just it would take A LOT of dmg to kill you with the dead ringer up

lethal means deadly
so any hit that isn't powerful enough to drop you
example: if you get charged headshotted, even if you have ringer up, you're dead
if you get bodyshotted, you cloak
