--- Quote from: WingZero on November 30, 2012, 10:03:48 PM ---both soas and bm have the theme of losing a loved one, both are simply conveyed differently. they both also use an object to symbolize that loved one, the sentry in soas and archimedes in bm. in bm, the first few seconds show that archimedes is dead and medic really didn't want to face up to that; so far in fact that he injects a drug into himself, showing that he is in complete denial of his bird's death. archimedes in a way "comes back" to the medic, the two once again reunited. now think about this; doctors are people who battle death. a figure which serves as the symbolism for death (or medic wearing a blighted beak) takes the bird away from him, which shows that death takes away those unfortunate enough to meet its grasp for good. medic, living up to his job's namesake, literally battles death with the help of his bird's spirit. after killing death, he finally goes into the acceptance that his friend is gone for good.
edit: additional brown townysis of the themes of soas and bm
as i said before, both have similar themes with different ways of showing them.
soas is more of a happy ending after losing the sentry engie was so close to; reuniting with it in the afterlife.
bm is bittersweet, medic finally man(n)s up and lives with the fact that archimedes won't be coming back.

but there's no reason for me to care about what's going on in bad medicine
I care about the sentry and the engineer because I see them having fun together and how much they love each other for the first half of the video, so when the time comes it's heart-breaking as the engineer races to save his little friend, shivering and confused, only to watch it fall apart before his eyes
sure, the medic is obviously distraught in the opening of bad medicine, but it doesn't give me a reason to care about his actions; I never saw how the bird made him feel and I don't feel any emotional connection to him (or the bird I guess) so it just feels empty
I guess everyone's different, but that's how I see it

I've unboxed a second Strange SMG. Anyone got a Strange Quick-Fix or Big Earner?
Regulith:
why does the s. homewrecker track kills? killing is the last thing you should be doing with it
I guess it's just to give people another reason to buy keys and get sappers/buildings destroyed strange parts
also, apparently people are noticing a rise in hat finds lately, just a head's up in case it's not a coincidence, I found one earlier so I'm somewhat convinced
Flubbman:
I liked SoaS a lot more because it's actually a feeling I have felt many times before
running too far away from your buildings to spycheck, only to find out the Spy was near you all along, waiting to forget your stuff up
but holy stuff, Bad Medicine. It may not have made much sense, but god DAMN it was well made.
