I always join Spectator first if there's an equal amount of players on both teams, then check who has the most points
if one has a ridiculously huge advantage i leave or join the leading team (yeah yeah forget me)

I'm useless at that combo
I get like 2 or 3 kills when I panscout, pyros are the toughest for me
