Going by backpack.tf:
Smoking Furious Fukaamigasa = 1.4.-1.7 buds
Buds = 27-28 keys
1.4 * 27 = 37.8
1.7 * 28 = 47.6
Smoking Furious Fukaamigasa = 37.8-47.6 keys
Strange Sapper = 13-14 keys
Strange Festive Knife = 18-20 keys
13 + 18 = 31
14 + 20 = 34
You paid between 31 and 34 keys for something worth at least 38.

Yes, this is true. However it's worth mentioning that both of the items he traded will foreseeably rise in price where the unusual will not. Don't worry, you'll hold the better end of the deal for the next few months though.
