that's not what i was expecting, but i was told that maps were removed.

THERE ARE NO MORE MAPS!
Just Adjustable Plate.
Go to the Admin Menu and press Environment to change what it looks like.
3D maps were just getting in the way of installing shadows.
And you have to admit, they were low quality.
