o: I am late to the weekly Who discussion.
Just of note, if you haven't watched the latest Doctor Who yet, I'm very very likely to be giving spoilers. So, look away!
Tonights episode was alright. It was interesting and entertaining, but I will agree with Crêpe. It seemed a little bit... overly simple to end it all.
Doctor gets on a spaceship, flashes his sonic screwdriver, and the entire ordeal is over and done with.
I get that this was very much a character building episode, but when they're splitting the series into two halves, and we won't get as much continuous action and excitement, then every moment counts.
And when you come up with something as clever as todays episode and brush it off in 5 seconds, then it's a bit of a waste and let down.
There were some hilarious moments, but it was a bit lack on the story side.
No explanation whatsoever about the girl with the curly hair (Yeah, she was some robot scout thing, but no reasoning behind what her actions were or why she had gone unnoticed when staying in a hospital for half a year), nor the two cube-mouthed people. They just swept in at the end, then when the doctor turns up, they're gone.
And the cubes could've been more sinister than just, sit around for a year and then randomly disable everyone's hearts. I had the feeling it was going to be as interesting as the Cybermen "ghosts", or the Master's "Toclafane", but it just didn't deliver.
