i use them to estimate how old players are as in how long they've been playing
even though some people with really old IDs haven't played much
funny, i have a 17k id and i'm usually the "oldest" one on my server even though 17k isn't old at all

I heard even if you join a RTB server whitout having it, your ID is added to the list
so 38k has really begun
