How do select specific bricks with it instead of the entire thing and how do I turn it off when I just want to place a single brick?

You can't. All bricks connecting to the one you hit with the wand are duplicated.

All you do is select a brick in your inventory.

they asked how to turn off the duplicator, not how to select a brick
