it's funny because you can actually get to the old RTB IRC - as in actual IRC and not RTBC - without having the old RTB
but it's completely empty except for a bot or something

Because it used to be IRC and people got used to it.

I know it used to be IRC and even I was still calling it that when RTBC was created and IRC was taken out a few weeks after.   It just gets annoying sometimes though.  I'm not saying that they should stop calling it that, I'm just saying that it's not IRC anymore and it just gets a bit annoying.   

And I might just get flamed for this post but whatever.

I also prefer calling it IRC, it's just a habit people have developed because it always used to be IRC.

Yep, I know I'm bit of a hypocrite here but I sometimes call it IRC (accidentally),  the habit never goes away.
