What is a dedicated server?

A server that doesn't require the host to be in the server for it to run.

JPSC:

A server that can be run 24/7 from a command line without the need of the player host being inside the game.

You can use a Linux shell to host your server but that would require your key, and it could be stolen in case the shell owner plays Blockland (highly unlikely, lol)
