Author Topic: IP Address Won't load  (Read 4741 times)

Try doing 10.7.72.1 in your browser and see if that works.

tracert -d google.com

Quicker way to answer Greek2me's question.
Normally when you traceroute from a residential connection your first hop will be an IP in the ISPs non-global IP space as the IMCP packet returns to your host tagged with that IP. This allows the ISP to run more than 256 hosts in a class C subnet. This means a traceroute won't help you find your router. Nice try though, amateur.

OP: do you even have a router or are you connecting straight to a modem?

Yes, I have a Cisco dpq2160, and a apple time Capsel the converts the rougher to wireless signal. I am on a laptop, so I use this signal.

IMCP
Call the police, perfect Lub screwed up an acronym.

We assume not because he's trying to port forward.

However, he may have 2 routers which is what tracert will discover.

Not sure why you're yelling at me when the 2-router question was Greek's:
Idk how your network is set up, but do you have multiple routers? Try 10.0.0.1.

Oh look, the first hop is my router:

*might discover

And also it may help find the address of the primary "router", so it's two birds and one stone.

Apple time capsule seems to cause these after doing some research.

Here is the only fix I've found.

Quote
AirPort Utility > Select the TC > Manual Setup > Internet > DHCP
o DHCP Reservations
o Click on the plus button to add a reservation.
o Enter a description; select MAC Address, and then, select Continue
o Enter the MAC Address (aka AirPort ID) of the specific Mac you want to have a static IP for.
o Enter the desired IP Address in the IPv4 Address field, and then, click on Done.

This seems only to be part of the objective. Not sure how you portforward with one of these things.

Tying that brb

How would I find the airport Id?
I looked on the bottom and there are 3 things that say Id and they are for different gigahurtz.
What one is correct?

The only other option would be to get a better router that won't do that. Such as this: http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-E1200-Linksys-Wireless-N-Router/dp/B004T9RR6I/ref=pd_cp_pc_2
