Author Topic: How to: Writing a Story, the Outline and Structure  (Read 2608 times)

I think the only rule that has to apply here is the first one: Have fun.

I'd rather let my creativity and imagination take over rather than guidelines telling me how to structure it.

Aw, how cute.

You need to use your creativity in a constructive manner.  If you make a story that doesn't follow these rules, then show me.  It's basically impossible.

this is how i write a story
1: open textedit
2: stare at blank screen
3: keysmash
4: cry in corner

You could always ask for help...

if you need to use a guide to write a story you should find a new hobby

"A Precondition is more of an annoyance that than a trial." seemed to be the only typo.
That being said.
I enjoyed this outline. I've been pondering going back to my old stories and finishing them, or starting a new one loosely based on my own life (because it's so damn interesting), and with a fantasy twist (because fantasy is always fun and interesting if done right).
I'll be using this outline as a reference if I ever want to continue writing or if I decide to start something new.

As for my grammar regarding parenthesis and periods/commas being inside them..
I reject your reality and substitute my own. =D

"If you don't already know how to do advanced calculus, then you should kill yourself."

You know, because schooling is a guide.

You honestly believe that someone who doesn't understand this guide's basic information will be able to write a story, and finish it, with it making sense?  The information here is just a collection of necessary essentials that every story in existence follows.

If someone can't fathom the framework of a story without instruction then they need to read more or go outside.

or you know

that someone doesn't receive basic outlining and story structure like almost no k-12 schools offer to the public

your whole posts are all dismissive, and somehow you have the idea that you don't need to learn things and if you do you need to kill yourself. this is comparable to saying "if you don't know how to windsurf, you should kill yourself. if you need to learn, just watch a video of other people doing it, and if you get lessons you are a failure."

and how exactly do you learn how to make basic story structure by going outside.

By going outside I meant you should find something else to do. Killing yourself because you can't write or windsurf is a terrible idea.

Don't you learn things by having others tell you?  Isn't that what this is?

I don't think he's forcing anyone to use it, and he didn't say that he made this up himself.
