I wouldn't want those people to buy it, though. I'd rather have properly informed people who are interested in gaming buying it.
You're stereotyping a bit here.
Just because someone likes comedic game reviewers (Let's Plays are a form of review) doesn't mean they're not "interested in gaming" nor that they're idiotic.
I also personally don't care if childish people find out about, purchase, play and enjoy Blockland.
It's a bloody block-building Lego-Style game, that is always going to entertain children of young ages and teenagers. If they're not mature, that's not something we can change.
I still welcome their purchase of the game which helps further the development of Blockland, and I welcome their entertainment with the game.
I think trying to build a secular community is a stupid and pointless task.
Not only does it completely negate the entire point of trying to get Blockland on Steam, but it also slows down development.
IMO, suggesting that we avoid advertising to large audiences of people likely to show interest in the game, is exactly the same as saying that you
want Blockland to stay as a "small community"... thereby making the community smaller and better.
Which isn't something we, nor Badspot want.
Even if you just get TotalBiscuit to review us, you'll get an equal ratio of idiots/immature people to those you claim to be better due to their "interest in gaming".
Also, what does an "interest in gaming" even mean?
I don't see how being interested in games should be more important than playing and enjoying games.
I don't really care if someone who is interested in games likes the looks of Blockland. Not if they're not gamers or likely to play it.
"interest in gaming" would cover everyone who at the slightest bit is interested in gaming. Someone who looks for all the new Facebook games is interested in gaming. Someone who collects every single copy of a certain game-related magazine is interested in gaming. Someone who gets given a random videogame at Christmas and wants to play it is interested in gaming.
Being interested in gaming in all those situations does not mean you have to know who TotalBiscuit is.
"I'm interested in England, but I don't know who the queen is"
yeah okay whatever
An unfair brown townogy.
The Queen of England, the head of state and Monarch of England, is a physical part of England.
TotalBiscuit is not the supreme head or an unignorable part of gaming.
It is pure opinion to say that he is the most important figure in gaming. Anyone who has never heard of him, but has heard of equally prominent people in gaming communities (or people who make games), can say that the people they know of are the most important figures. Therefore choosing who is most important is an opinion and not a fact.
Eitherway, this entire argument is just bloating this topic.
We should be grateful to get reviewed by any big game-reviewer, especially if they have a large fan base, and especially if they review us justly and well.
