flashlights aren't impossible or bad, you guys are just really bad at making them or haven't tried the right ways.
it shouldn't have to be laggy or half-assed to be something cool like a flashlight.

I agree with this.
Besides, why don't we just use the Flashlight energy to control the player light usage?
I mean the latern is a good idea, but eh.
