also has anyone watched Plumphelmetpunk play this? He's a really cool game commentator.

i did it on the engi ship, i find it much superior to the starter and the stealth cruiser.
before i even got to sector 5, i got 3 mark I anti-ship drones, level 4 shields, and the augment that allows you to recycle robot parts.
this pretty much is a gg combo right here, you can just spawn 3 of them and set your phasers to ion on their shields and gg.

So I decided to modify the "data" file in this folder (I made a back-up copy, don't worry) and every change I make, no matter how small or insignificant, always crashes the game on start-up.
I'm just curious as to why this happens, because I thought it shouldn't cause problems like that.
EDIT: Even if I don't make changes (just delete a letter, replace the exact same character, then save it) the game crashes on start-up. What the hell.

You know, if you're just modifying existing files, you could Verify Cache to fix it instead. It'd just download instead of locally.
Also, obviously your problem has to do with the program you're using not saving all the data correctly. Either it can't read certain information, or there's extra information it can't see to set again when saving.

I'm using note pad to edit the data. Yeah, it's cheap. I'm pretty sure it's not saving correctly either. There are characters that note pad doesn't recognize and it makes them up. Is there any way to make this not happen?

Hey guys, is there any way to change the files to give me every ship?
