what kind of specs does a computer for a dedicated blockland server need?

Laptops have cheaper parts. They wear out and break more easily.

I don't understand how "stresses the system, wares out the hard drive, overheats, and you can't close the screen or it will sleep" are related to this post.

Contrary to your current belief, it does not overheat, wear out the hard drive, or stress the system. If you're attempting to run a server on a horrible laptop, you may stress the system.
There's a specific option to change what the laptop does when the lid closes.
