My high school economics teacher didn't allow people to use 'like' in that context.
If he asked a question, and the persons answer had 'like' in the wrong context, he would make them say it all over again.
A lot of people hated him for it but I loved it because of the annoying people who always talked like:

According to my English teacher saying "like" too much is a mark of a non-native speaker. I have to agree since people who don't know English very well say "like" all the god damn time here in Finland.
