My client is resource intensive beyond anything logical

Somehow as of late, Blockland manages to push my computer to absurd loads and temperatures like it never has before in the three and a half years I've owned my copy and across four computers. Even in the menus just after launch Speedfan will report a GPU temperature of around 65C and Task Manager will report loads around 50-60%. When playing on someone else's server, loads usually hover around 75% and GPU temperatures around 70C. When hosting my own server that nobody is capable of joining, CPU load ends up around 90-95 if not 100% and Speedfan will report a GPU temperature of 80C while doing absolutely nothing with no bricks loaded and shaders completely off, and as high as 85C when loaded with around 200 bricks.

I've lowered settings for physics, particles, FX bricks, falloff, anisotropy and probably other features with absolutely no change. Typically I run Blockland with 4x AA via the NVidia Control Panel; disabling that also did nothing whatsoever.

My GPU is an NVidia GTS 450 with a slight overclock and my processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 at 2.66GHz. I run the game in fullscreen 1440x900 at 75Hz.

Open task manager, select blockland, go to proccess, then set its priority to low.
Sefou:
I'm fairly certain that did nothing.

I've been able to reduce loads by near-minimizing everything. My GPU temperatures can mostly be accounted for seeing as it's been overheating with everything lately, but it's still completely absurd that I've had to do this on the highest-spec'd computer I've ever run Blockland on.

Did turning down your shaders help? What about if you turn them off?
