I tried that message then first time, then installed all the extra mods. Now I'm getting 'end of stream'.
EDIT: I got past the end of stream, but now I'm getting this:
Version 52 is the latest, update please.

force updating minecraft after installing mods makes minecraft go back into vanilla mode.
