For brick walls you use both. The macro to make a stack of bricks. The duplicator to select it. Then a macro again to plant them everywhere. |

Macros are much more useful for repeating actions again and again, since for duplicator you will still have to end up moving the base brick over. Usually I use both, by duplicating an object and using a macro to plant it multiple times. |
