I feel like new games are improving graphics but removing gameplay

This is simply only a example, I'm not bashing any particular game.
Original: Had decent graphics, great team play mechanics, good combat/ whatever the point of the game is (Like puzzles or something.)
New, modern title: Great graphics, minimum team play, generic gameplay (Like your regular FPS game, its almost always the same thing.)
I feel like most game sequels just copy the same mechanics from other games.
Why can they just make the original game have better graphics and better functionality, I would still get it. D:
