I think one of the main reasons there weren't a lot of memes in my school was because most of the student body was computer-stupid and only used the internet for facebook and google research, obviously there were exceptions but I was acquainted with a lot of them and we all knew better than to spout memes months passed their expiration date, not that anyone but us would understand them anyway

especially since 4chan was the largest source and it took brave people to set foot in there in an era where everyone assumed all of 4chan was just like /b/
