[OPINION] How has indie gaming affected the gaming market?

I wasn't trying to say that all of them, or indeed any, do, but I was still just saying. Oh well, I guess it was kind of a bad point.

Indie companies are the only hope I have of good games because big titles will always be simple and generic to reach the biggest market they can.

I can list a few recent non-indie games I've enjoyed.

Armored Core V
Twisted Metal
BlazBlue series (even though I suck at it)
Pokemon B&W
Boarderlands 2
Guild Wars 2
Mario Kart 7
Probably missed a few too.

Mushroom man:

Most of these indie games have very good concepts and gameplay, but the graphics are always retro for the sake of being retro. It kind of bothers me.
