But anyways, I think it should only be fair if we have a virus that gives humans herpies AND kills them off.

Trejirm Solious has concluded from recent studies that the virus is in-fact a convergence of the rhinovirus (common cold) and meningitis. It seems to have a fungal effect once seen in the ants of Earth, where the infected are essentially controlled by the foreign organism, and are susceptible to a violent burst of spores into the air to infect others of the same colony.

Well if you have two entirely different races on entirely different planets, don't you think that the genome would have an extremely hard time trying to shake off foreign diseases? Even as a part-human hybrid, a dominant alien gene might override the resistance against a virus. So I think this is all fair game on this planet.
