Due to incrised radioactivity in the world due to the catastrophe, The Slavic Union has begun construction of nuclear shelters deep underground in major cities and it's capital. Estimate time of construction is unknown.
The Slavic Union has begun developing it's own anti radiation drugs, under codename "A.R.D.".
The Slavic Union is willing to buy if any of the countries currenty have such an invention.
If the vaccine given by New America works under the tests done in the labs of the union.
The research for their own vaccine would stop and mass production of the vaccines themselves would begin.
The funding gone into developing a vaccine would have changed course into anti rads drugs.
In the following months the vaccines would be mass produced and distributed to hospitals.
The military would ensure that the general population is vaccined and ready.
After the vaccines would be distributed among the general population, Martial Law would be lifted.
Several generals speak of switching to DEFCON 3. But most decline due to incrised numbers of allies.

Dug, I must say, you are a really good roleplayer ;).
The general population gets the cure/vaccine, and the virus is killed for those who have gotten them. People without it get the vaccine version, while people, like again, get the cure version if they currently have it. Of course, it isn't always dandy and people get reactions, but doctors give said people medicine for the reactions.

Acornia collaspes. The leader is assasinated by a guy with a rifle. Civilians storm in the rocket control centers. A wayward missle accidentally launched by one of them hits the satelite, which crashes somewhere in the ocean. Other missles hit NA, also by accident because it's SO DAMN CLOSE.
Swat 3:
The missiles land in the mountains, were they show lot's of coal, silver, gold, iron and other deposits. One stray missle, though, hits a very important monument, killing 50 tourists, from selective countries. Out of the 50, 10 people were Swiss.
