This made me sad as well. It also angered me that link didn't get any fine hyrulian booty or anything else from the princesses. That was the most anti climatic ending ever.

Considering he went back to the past, when he had yet to defeat ganondorf, I'd say it was appropriate.

Do you mean finding him in the prison cell on board Truth and Reconciliation, or do you mean later on when you find him as a proto-gravemind, again on Truth and Reconciliation.
Or when he doesn't keep his gun loaded?
