Author Topic: Steam, Good or not? (update)  (Read 4519 times)

Steam will be a great source of new players and our community will blossom,
Make sure to greet the new players warmly, and host good servers for them

What if Badspot goes all Microsoft on us and doesn't allow users to make money off his game by hosting for other people
Err, tons of people host MS products commercially...?

Bad or yes?
I am for steam now, I have been noticing that the newbies are actually getting smarter wen they first join.

I think that the change is good, because the majority of players on Steam are rather mature.  However, there will be an excessive amount of per-pubescent children who want to play with it because legos.

And we will welcome them.

We should welcome them so they don't say, "Community is mean guys! Don't buy this game!" So don't be jerks and help them out.

They will respect us.

That's definitely the case already. Most of those kids don't actually post on the forums but there are a vast number who actually play the game. I'd like to think that some of the mature players Steam will bring would be more inclined to provide "safe" servers for the younger part of the community.

Lets all just get naked and dance in your garden.

I think it's good. I just hope there's not a whole bunch of people asking "Where's the hats?" "Where's the weapon drop?"
Im pretty excited actually.

A different way of getting and accessing the game is great and will hopefully bring about new players, there's no downside to having a larger community.

Frankly I think it'd be better for everyone if the forum was diluted. Right now its like a classroom full of kids throwing paper balls at each other.
