The first is that anything that gets a negative rating from too many users would be removed or hidden from the system because we'd assume that it's just really bad quality and nobody wants to see it. What we could also do is make it so that the moderators get a list of all the newly submitted files whenever they login and they can then check those and remove any that are inappropriate or just awful. Do you think that'd solve the problem of it becoming a dump? --- End quote --- I actually do not believe in the rating system as a moderation option. It's like giving power to normal users, which I do not like as they can be dumb, clueless, biased, full of hatred or anything similar. The rating system could work as a popularity check but I, myself, would not like it to have so much power. People can randomly rate down everything they see or maybe even rate up stuff and inappropriate content. You can not trust the community. I withdraw my queue idea and rather point at your second solution. New submission should be made available immediately and moderators receive a message about it on login where they choose to remove it/tell the creator to change it or just let it be. That way we avoid bottlenecks. |

--- Quote from: Ephialtes on October 12, 2012, 04:42:21 AM ---The only issue I've got with props (and builds actually) is how to load them into the game. In an ideal situation you'd be able to hit the "load" button on the in-game save browser and it'd equip your player with a special brick which would be a square with the exact dimensions of the build you're trying to load to make it a bit easier to position and everything. Obviously that's not possible at the moment but I might pitch the idea to Badspot and see how keen he is on adding some kind of system to do that. If anyone else has got some ideas about how to place builds you're loading when you're not exactly sure about it's dimensions then definitely discuss them in this thread. --- End quote --- What what is wrong with just downloading a .bls file and loading it duplicator style? Or duplorcator style too. Unless this is something that is being handled completely client sided... I worked out duplication saving/loading in buildbot if using that or something similar is acceptable to you. Or you could even make it create a macro, although buildbot is sorta the same thing, except faster. Heck, I could probably put together some basic client sided prop downloading and loading pretty quick if I can get a server to host the stuff. |

I think that rating as a tool for ridding the system of bad submissions is worth the potential for users to try and abuse it for really little gain. --- Quote from: Nexus on October 12, 2012, 04:10:41 PM ---What what is wrong with just downloading a .bls file and loading it duplicator style? I see a few benefits and drawbacks to both. The idea of having to send the build to the server to load sounds kind of lame but at the same time so does the client making the server have to download the build from RTB - though the latter would be quicker. Ideally I'd like to load it in such a way that doesn't rely on the server having a particular add-on, though. |

I think this would do awesome. Just risking people submitting stupid builds like massive snakees and for stuffs and giggles people keep upvoting it to see the giant snake get to the top list. Also, maybe instead of just only a tag system but a category system, like add-ons. Like "Cities" or "Single Buildings" or "Terrain" |
