A lot of early British tanks were American tanks which we were given on lend-lease and allowed to modify for ease of part replacement, since we were fighting a war on the ocean and in the air it wasn't really our priority to design and manufacture our own tanks, we made some in the early years but the bulk of our armoured forces were lend-lease variants for quite a while |
