and there's something known as multiplayer. Why not just have fun with friends?
And I agree with Munk, that is basically what I've always done with hosting. I don't worry about pleasing everyone, because that is not possible. I just make it fun for myself, and maybe some friends here and there.

i only host a freebuild when i'm building something, because if someone irc'd me with nothing to do then they could just join and help me build/build something there.

i guess singleplayer is very lonely for me. :c

That's why. Sure, it's fine if the players are enjoying it too. But, remember, the players are more important.
