PC ONLY!!!!!!!!!!! YES!
How exactly is this good? This kills a good bit of the player base. I'm on a mac and I'm incredibly interested in this game.
Anyways
It looks seriously awesome. I can't wait for Christmas so I can get my new computer.
Also I wish I could donate the maximum amount of money that way this game is the best it can be :<

Nah this is just a 0x10c clone obviously.

being led by CHRIS ROBERTS (creator of WING COMMANDER)
judging by the large amount of space games in this house (including 2 wing commander games), i think my dad would like this game

People are unsure whether or not carriers will be in the game.

The following is from their Facebook

The citizen cards are physical items that replicate something you'll have in the game - sort of your in-game identity card.

The Constellation is the top of the line fighter; think the Centurion in Privateer. The big carrier is a "Bengal class" and we aren't selling those... you'll have to earn one in the game.

You will always have your preorder ship -- no way to lose it permanently. You can also buy other ships and upgrade your starter as the game progresses.

“Can I pilot a carrier starship? Yes (but probably not in the persistent online universe).”
The constellation is a high end FIGHTER, it is not a carrier. They said that you can obtain the bengal carrier in game, but also said that you probably can't command something as huge as what is seen in the video (which appears to be a bengal carrier). idk what to believe!

I hope they add at least some large class ships to the multiplayer. different classes balance eachother out with firepower, speed, shields, manuverability, and size. It would sure change things up if someone arrived to the fight with a destroyer.

Having a capital ship for your guild online would be sweet too. You could launch your fighters from it while the guild leaders are up in the bridge or something.

Edit: the constellation is the top of the line for what you can get by pledging money. it isn't the best in the game. the best ships will have to be earned by playing, and you cannot get them by pledging.

i hope there are some non-combat roles
or at least roles that arent all about shooting
Apparently you can skip the military part altogether and there's plenty of freeroam involved.

I want to do mining and stuff. Would be cool selling minerals while having an awesome guild of dogfighters/miners working together.

edit: im going to hold off on backing until I get my next paycheck which should be soon. I'm probably going to back it for $60.

I want this game so bad but only a supercomputer could run it and my computer has a potato in place of the graphic card. :c

I doubt it's going to require a "supercomputer" to run it. I'm sure most modern gpus will be able to run it just fine, if you have enough ram/a good enough cpu.

Unless of course I missed somewhere where they said what the minimum spec requirements is and I have no idea what I'm talking about. But uhhhhh I'm going with the former.

Most current gen “AAA” games have around 10,000 polygons for a character and 30,000 or so for a vehicle. In Star Citizen, the characters are detailed at 100,000 polygons, the fighter at 300,000 and the Space Carrier 7 million! This allows unparalleled detail, making the visuals more immersive than has ever been achieved before.

it'll probably be optimized

i hope this doesn't become a messy flashy mmo with a messy launcher with a million updates and ads and ingame just being loving full of lights and character names and message boxes all over the place

good god

but yeah
it'll probably be optimized

The way I interpreted it, they're marketing it to people with computers that run on diamond graphics cards and unicorn sperm liquid cooling.

A PC gaming enthusiast’s friend!
As you upgrade your PC, Star Citizen will take advantage of your extra processor cores, memory or GPUs. This is why you’re a PC gamer – you love being on the cutting edge, not stuck in the past!

he says BUILT TO SCALE for pcs of TODAY and tomorrow. minimum requires around a gtx 470 ($120 about) and is running in the video using a gtx 670 ($400). assuming the game doesnt come out for 2 years, the prices will probably drop as new cards are released. those arent THAT expensive either, the 470 definitely isnt.
