Space Pirates And Zombies - Wreck space stations, kill zombie ships and whatnot!

I finally got back into this (after watching people play FTL ironically enough) and ho-lee-stuff, I just encountered the most annoying vehicle in the universe: a cloaking Helix with mounted leecher turret, leecher turret launchers, and point defense
it just shoots out leecher turrets all over the place that sap your reactor power until you've got nothing left so you can't use your beams to keep its cloak from recharging so it can flee, if you get too close it'll shoot you with its on-board leecher turret and shoot down any missiles you try to throw at it with point defense
fortunately I just unlocked the Pelican which has like 6 missile bays and a beam slot so I could just run up to it, take down the cloak really quick before my reactor gets drained, then lauch so many missiles there was no way the point defense could get them all
I probably spent a good 5-10 minutes just fighting this one ship regardless though, mother of forget

I need to design a ship like this now.

god I'm terrible at this game
I'm getting destroyed in level 35 star systems at tech level 50, although after looking at the wiki it's because I'm utilizing my ships wrong
at this point I'm trying to fully explore the outer ring of the galaxy and grab blueprints before getting any further into the core

if a starbase is at tier 1 or 0 and has blueprints you can just kaboom it for relatively free
hell i've destroyed tier 3 bases
