Autobots prefer to turn into civilian vehicles like police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, everyday cars and trucks. Just nonmilitary stuff in general, very few turn into military vehicles.

Decepticons turn into military vehicles. They have allies called Constructicons which turn into Construction vehicles.
