I'm looking for some scrolling shooters

got the urge to play some scrolling shooter games, what are some good ones?
games like Gradius, preferably with powerups or upgrades of some sort to keep it interesting, bosses are a huge plus

Raze is pretty fun. I didn't get much out of it, but only because I'm not really into shooters.
There's also Raze 2.

I would could over here and suggest Cave Story, but I'm guessing you're the sort of person who's already played that.
