i doubt he was making the Thompson do it, he was probably using vce events to fire them and just had the Thompson out
Tactical Nuke:
Not only can I agree with this, but I can say that most Fortwars servers aren't top notch anymore.
I remember that I went to one where you were confined to build in this one small area. Fortwars shouldn't be like that. That type of server encourages spawnkilling. Then there are those servers that you just spawn and build a fort, and you aren't told what to do and what not to do. Some servers make rules where you spawn, but it's easy just to skip past them and start building. Then there are the servers with not enough bricks to make a nice-looking base, or those servers with terrible weaponsBF3 And of course, don't forget abusive admins and hosts.
Basically, if you don't make a server where you work to make it so that the rules are shoved down the player's throat, then not only will you not have good Fortwars players, you won't have a good server.

in terms of overall server quality and administration
1. my fort wars
2. glass's fort wars
99. everything else
Planr:
People go to fortwars servers to have fun. Not play internet courthouse. People shouldn't be having to check literally every second if they're not breaking the rules. I have gotten banned from countless servers because of dumb little rules like "No killing builders" when there is no time to sit down and think every second if I am following it. That makes me hate so many servers these days, because of stupid rules made to either appease whiners or to give a ban-happy admin another reason to pull his trigger. If you want to build in peace, go to a freebuild for goodness sake, stop whining about how i'm "being unfair" for camping your sorry skill-less behind because you're too busy repeatedly shouting for an admin and building to bother defending yourself.

Taboo sadly is speaking honestly.
What is fundamentally broken with "fort wars" is that what is the goddamn point of building a fort? There is no motivation; hence the lack of real forts these servers provide. The problem can be somewhat remedied by making it a team fort ctf wars, but even then without really good moderation and mature and fair players it won't end up being fun.
What would be best is if there was a base terrain map supplied and people were restricted to building certain, predefined blueprints of buildings, which would require people "working" on them in order to get built. Something like Age of Empires building construction but real people would have to be clicking a button or something. That would prevent excessive unfair spamming or building in team fort ctf's and allow players to focus on strategy and working together. Certain "blueprints" and weapons and upgrades such as forward bases would have to be bought using income from bot-miners which would have to be protected by players. To prevent choking a teams resources each team would also get a base income rate which would be low enough to prevent dependence on it but high enough so with time it could be used to help recover their economy. Games would be won either by complete enemy base destruction (capture might work) or by capping the flag once or twice. Each team would be assigned a commander to manage the funds, and grant them to players to build structures. If any of you have played FreeAllegiance it's basically the same system but on ground.
