Author Topic: What instruments do you play?  (Read 4417 times)

Does anybody have any instruments to suggest I learn to play?
I took some piano lessons when I was younger but quit and never really regained interest.
I don't really want to play a guitar or drums because like everyone I know that plays an instrument plays one of those
In middle school I played the steel bass drums (and enjoyed it) but obviously that's not exactly a valid option here

So what should I play, forums?

flute, piano, some guitar.. yeah

a guy playing a flute is bad enough
forget your couch

Learn to play the piano/keyboard. Each button is a note, so its really simple. Keyboards are also flexible, and can even be used to help compose music.

I have an antique piano in my house
It is in anything but mint condition

I considered learning the keyboard/synth (a synth IS a keyboard, right?) but idk

If you want a brass instrument, I would recommend the Baritone Horn or Euphonium, I play the Baritone Horn and it's easy to pick up and learn, and sounds great. It honestly has a beautiful sound if you can put the time into it. An example of what you can do

For string instruments, I'd suggest the viola. The music is easy to read, and the fingerings are mostly muscle memory. Again, how good you sound is reflective of the time you put into it. The Viola is a mid-range instrument, so it's not horribly difficult to pick up, either.

do you want to learn a wind/brass/string/what instrument

Probably not wind, I'm sort of a quiet talker and have asthma so I sort of figure I would automatically suck at any wind instrument, however learning to play one may improve my speaking volume I guess...?

I guess I'd like to learn an instrument that I can be respected for/not trolled for and something that I still like the sound and style of

I'm also kind of afraid because I've never legitimately played an instrument and my artistic (at least visually artistic) skills suck. But I've always really been able to enjoy music as an art, much more so than paintings or sculptures etc

Double Bass
Bari Sax
Violin (Just started)
I will learn Viola, and cello.

Instead of buying a violin and a viola, I will just buy a 5-string violin.
I will switch to a 5-string in a few years.
