--- Quote from: Electrk² on November 23, 2012, 12:39:37 PM ---He makes really long posts --- End quote --- As do yola an quite a few others here on the forums --- Quote from: Cnaibedoge on November 23, 2012, 12:15:32 PM ---i plan on implemented 'clues' based on Iban's vision of them, but leave that joke alone admin lol --- End quote --- It sounds fun but I can't wrap my mind around it, especially not in the sense of it being a physical question mark (if that is still iban's idea)... I like a more realistic city RPG IMO, however in the end whenever I'm a non-admin things always end up a little over the top with super suits and such lol. Edit: --- Quote from: ¥ola on November 23, 2012, 01:34:57 AM ---Me and dion don't despise each other, I put him on a rather friendly term. And my work ethic isn't bad at all, I just don't have the time it requires to be a part of these large projects anymore. --- End quote --- Your statement got me thinking, so I did some digging. --- Quote from: Cnaibedoge on November 03, 2012, 05:56:28 PM ---V1.2 - JazZ officially drops out of project -/+ Labor system remade by Dionysus + Time system finished by Dionysus - Farming mockup by Pacnet trashed --- End quote --- JazZ = Yola, Bolded subjects are related to him (yola was SUPPOSED to make labor stuff) Ahem. On good terms and good work ethic. Riiiight... I'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation for this? |

The problem with CityRPG is that it requires you to constantly gather resources to even get anywhere. |

Now don't go indirectly insulting JazZ. He is a wonderful coder for the time he has spent trying to learn how to, and I know I may not be as good a coder that he is. Without his simplistic version he gave to me, which, in the longrun, had me learn a lot more about how the system should work, I probably wouldn't have finished the wonderful labor system I have now, it's very efficient, and can be adapted to standalone or put into other mods, as what I hope most other features in my mod will be. JazZ didn't exactly quit, moreover I booted him out of the project because with the 'baby incoming', he surely couldn't have the time, later I was disproved. --- Quote from: Glassy¹ on November 22, 2012, 11:21:21 PM ---CityRPG[stuff] (One I'm making with Thorfin25, JazZ, Brighter, and Pass) --- End quote --- I had a good laugh at this, I know Thorfin is a good guy, but last time he had a CityRPG going it was with Brian Smith and we all know how that turned out. Brian isn't nearly as imbecilic as Glass. But then I stopped laughing when I saw JazZ's name, as stated before I didn't think he had the time. So what I've gathered, he has got Pass and JazZ to do the scripting for him as he doesn't know anything about Torque. I don't know much, but I can tell an overdone bluff when I see one. Examples include; --- Quote from: Glassy¹ on November 13, 2012, 10:29:45 PM ---As I said, A few features, There's about 50 more I could post. But I rather let actions speak for themselves. --- End quote --- --- Quote from: Glassy¹ on November 13, 2012, 10:35:54 PM ---I'm bluffing? Whatever man, Just wait. Might not be out for a month or so considering we want to take out bugs before launching. --- End quote --- --- Quote from: Glassy¹ on November 13, 2012, 09:52:33 PM ---Keep 'loling'. The mod were working on will make yours look like a old piece of junk. Honestly. Your build is also crap. lol. Cmon. Crack some jokes about this post. Go for it. But when it comes out, And you see the Build and Mod. You will be like "DOOH" --- End quote --- --- Quote from: Glassy¹ on November 13, 2012, 10:00:47 PM ---Who said its my building skills? Three of the best Blockland friends are helping me with building, modeling, and scripting. Anyway, lets not stuff up this thread. --- End quote --- ^that's where he starts to try to escape his doom^ --- Quote from: Glassy¹ on November 13, 2012, 10:06:44 PM ---Ahahaha no. Only me and my coder have a copy. No one else. And ya. You wont be getting it, So don't count on it. --- End quote --- --- Quote from: Glassy¹ on November 13, 2012, 10:18:17 PM ---PeopleRP? Pfft. Pls. We are making this good. We are also using DRPG scripts for reference and few other CityRPG's. Just a few features. * A working GUI. * A car buying system where you must buy a car instead of just a vehicle spawn. * Farming, When harvesting is at a low, Food prices go up because the city must 'Import'. * All custom models, Thanks to Pass and Khain(He gave some of his models to pass) * Presidential Election. * 3 Cities. The Capital, The Country and the other one is still un-named. * Workign Economy system I'm pretty sure its going to be better than PeoplesRP. --- End quote --- that last one made me laugh. anyways, me and Jazz are, I assume, still friends. I will be the first to let him know that working with Glass is a mistake, though. Brian Smith isn't much different, but I have a pretty adequate level of respect for him. |
| Barnabas:
The problem with most cityrps is that they feel pointless. CityRP itself is a game-mode that can't decide what it should be. Is it about building a city? Is it about being a criminal running from the cops? Is it a game where you spend hours clicking a tree for unobtanium? Is it a basic economy simulator? What is it, really? Some of you would probably say that it is a mod about living a life in the city. The name "RP" implies playing a role in the city. But the problem is, the whole thing feels inhumane. If this was some game where farming or botting was rife, you couldn't tell them apart from the average players, who just wander around and wait for money. There's hardly any interaction between the players, unless it's hard-coded within the mod (for example stealing money from people's wallets). The only things that are remotely fun are actually the criminal and the police careers, because those are the only jobs that require any interaction. So in the end it's nothing but a big cops'n'robbers tdm with a somewhat dynamic environment. Shopkeepers, workers, etc. are only there as props and magical things that give you guns, cars, and a "get out of jail" card. One could say the mod is kind of like a jack of all trades. But it comes at the cost of being master at none. If all the elements were elaborated, then the whole game would become needlessly complicated. If you want a great city rp, then you should seriously think about what would you want to make out of it. Throw out features that are not fun. Don't add things for the sake of "realism". And most importantly, have a good time! |
