Creating images for making bricks

If you were planning to make bricks for addons, How exactly would you make images or which program would you use for them to create pictures to show up ingame in the brick menu?

I am honestly not sure, I think they use a program with the .dts or .obj and have the brick angled to make the pictures, but I wouldn't quote me.

I use a redscreen ingame, plant the brick, paint it white, screenshot it, make it transparent, edit/resize/blackandwhite, and then save them as .PNG

It's pretty tricky to take a screenshot from the right angle though.

Ask BlackDragonIV. He's Badspot's alt.

Would you use a normal brick?

For a cuboid brick orthographic X: 60.5 Y: 0 Z: 45 is close but not exact. For special bricks it varies.

Okay then, Thank you very much.
