my school makes us give our mac-addresses so that they can hax our laptops. never gave mine, can do anything i want. a lot of people actually get busted for stuff on their computer because they were stupid enough to give it to the school. |

Each device's network interface has a specific MAC address that can't be changed, and this is how they identify which packet goes through what device. |

Our school has a port-based whitelist, and some kind of domain blacklist (not sure about how that works, I've never had any trouble with it).
