Need help removing SweetIM

It just causes problems. I never installed it on purpose, as with most cases. It installs as part as another program's installation, and you don't have a choice to install it or not. Now here's my main problem:

I have it set to open the new tab page in Chrome...

And then this stuff pops up when I open a new tab.
It actually used to open nothing, just an error page. And now it's showing this search engine.

Vista, 32 bit. How do I completely rid this from my system?

Set up a System Restore point in case this solution messes up your PC. If you actually back up your OS and data, then this is optional.

Go into Safe Mode with Networking.

Of course, it's the simple solution that Google never shows. I'll try it out later, thanks.
