Author Topic: Custom Figures General  (Read 10224 times)

I have these minimalist clay figures, but I only have an iPod camera, and they're not all that good anyways. I plan to use the figures for a forum adventure, possibly, if I get a better camera and more time.

i have figures, but no custom figures until i finish a model that i want to run through my school's 3d printer o3o
and even then that's kind of cheating

it's a damn expensive hobby, and i don't see myself getting into it until i manage to secure a decent job

Thank god the bronies stayed away.
good work on them all OP and other people.

Your SCHOOL has a 3D printer?  Jesus christ, do you have to pay a fee to use it?

Honestly, I'm easily tolerable of bronies posting their stuff here.  A lot of my fans are bronies, so I tend not to discriminate.

no, since i told them to buy it and the school has oodles of money, i have free access to it

yep
fight me
The issue is that it's a schoolbought, most likely cheaper 3D printer.  How stuffty do the objects look when they come out?

not at all; we used it to print out a Raspberry Pi case and it looked just as it did in Blender

Powder or hot plastic layering? If it's a laser based 3d printer then you've got a good one. The plastic layering of ones that use the hot gun tend to looks really cruddy.

i think ive seen that LALAM fig on /toy/ before, i didnt know you made it :o

Do you take requests?
If so:

I really appreciate the compliments, guys, but don't any of you have something to contribute, too?  I mean, even piss poor attempts at paintjobs are accepted here.  I really want to see what other people can do, come on!
i think you just dominated the entire thread.
anyone's post would seem low-grade at this point.

but just as a question;
what are the basic tools you use when creating one of these?

That's one of my 2 scratch built figures, which is what helped launch my commissions at a professional level.

But it's not a pissing competition :/

A lot, seriously.  One of my primaries is a thinner spoon kind of tool, a long with two rubber edged tools, but I tend to switch all of the time.

If you keep this topic alive long enough I will be able to participate in posting thread material once I get started. :D
