--- Quote from: Gloss² on February 03, 2013, 10:13:39 PM ---I'm sorry, but what the forget are you even talking about? --- End quote --- When RTB Dedicated Hosting Service was first announced they were saying it would be hassle free and a huge step up from kalphiters service. But when I look at the threads it seems like they are both getting the same amount of problems. RTB may be even getting a bit more problems. RTB may have far more features. But it isn't quite as error free as they said it would be --- Quote from: Reactor Worker on February 04, 2013, 01:03:08 AM ---You have to be wary that you aren't being misled by a vocal minority. A handful of people, including myself, have experienced some issues but it's a drop in the bucket compared to the 60 or so servers they are hosting. Furthermore, it seems like many of the issues are a result of flaws in the game or the engine it's built on. Flaws that don't show up till you host a server for an extended period of time. --- End quote --- Thanks for clearing that up. I hope badspot fixes those problems to make this hassle free. It would also be nice if Ephi would buy a couple more server computers or whatever so there wouldn't be as many problems for the users. But from what I can tell he is considering not renewing the servers so RTB dedicated hosting service may be shut down as it is for a while. As for glass. You need to stop getting angry over stuff like this. Try to be helpful instead of getting angry over nothing. |

Kalphiter has been up for 2+ Years, he shouldn't be having such little problems, RTB has been out for about 2 months now and is still having problems that couldn't be detected during testing. And a lot of the problems that RTB has is people will crap-ons. Such as my server, I have errors all the time, because it's my add-ons slowing down the server and what not. You cannot blame a service for things like add-ons, they provide you with the server and technical support related to the server. They are not going to babysit your server because you cannot clean up your own mess. Its like renting a server(in most cases), the datacenter provides you with the server, you pay for it, if you are having problems because of things you have, its not their problem. But if something goes wrong with the server, such as a HDD or RAM and whatnot, they fix it. Anyway, what i'm trying to say is most of RTB's 'errors' are user error, not Service error. I mean, some of their downtime and stuff like that was their fault, but more than half the problems that occur are user error. |

We host 70 active users at the moment which is more than has been ever hosted before, and as mentioned earlier the vast majority are renewing their hosting so I'd say everyone's pretty content with the service. We've had 100% uptime on both nodes, an hour of downtime for the web panel in the 2 months it's been running for scheduled maintenance and have been developing functionality since release. Active development of a service is always going to be higher risk than a stagnant service that isn't being touched - that's the price you pay for new features, but we've done a great job of doing live feature deployments that don't require service downtime so I'm pretty proud of how we're doing at the moment. |

Glass a better brown townogy: A hosting service is (in this case is a home) like a house you're renting. The Land lord will make sure your heater, AC, Gas and electricity is working. You have to pay for the house. (The server). Now, say the house is empty, and the walls are white. You go to paint over those white walls and you add some furniture, it turns into a freaking mess. (The paint and furniture = your add on's). Now, it's your job to clean up your house and make it tidy. TL;DR: Hosting services will provide you with the server and stuff to run it, YOU however choose what crap you put in your sever. Thus if your server is crashing due to faulty add on's. It's your fault. Not the services, there is really no as Glass stated earlier "Perfect Hosting service". Every thing has flaws, just like a car. - Don't ask me why I did that, thought it'd be fun to make an brown townogy. |
